Chris is a graduate of Newcastle upon Tyne medical school. He currently works as a consultant diabetologist based within the Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Hospitals Trust where he provides community diabetes services. He is Clinical Lead for the Yorkshire and Humber Diabetes Clinical Network and Chairs the Hull and East Yorkshire Diabetes Network Board. He served as Chair of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists from May 2011 to May 2014 during which time he helped secure the acquisition of the British Journal of Diabetes and Vascular Disease (now the British Journal of Diabetes) as the official journal of the Association and launched with Patrick Sharp, then Secretary of ABCD the ‘Lost Tribe campaign highlighting the need to focus on the needs of people with Type 1 diabetes. One of his roles with ABCD was to co-chair with Prof Alan Sinclair, the Diabetes in Care Homes National Audit. His main clinical interests are diabetes care in the community and achieving integrated diabetes services. He was a member of the writing group for the NHS 2013 document entitled ‘Best practice for commissioning diabetes services-an integrated care
Framework’.
